Netwrix helps small businesses with cyber security for free

Netwrix has announced that its Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory is available for free to small businesses with no more than 100 user accounts, if downloaded during April 2015. The Netwrix solution – valued at over £800.00 – helps to detect security incidents and prevent data breaches, enables continuous compliance and optimises operations by providing complete visibility into all Active Directory and Group Policy changes.

Continuous monitoring of who did what, when and where helps to spot unauthorised modifications and malicious activities. However, due to budgetary concerns, limited IT personnel and the secondary role of IT security efforts, small companies tend to bypass solutions that help to cope with security issues.

The 2014 SIEM Efficiency Survey Report revealed that only 27% of small companies have established continuous monitoring of their IT infrastructures.

"The lack of visibility into Active Directory increases the danger of security violations and may result in insider misuse, sensitive data loss, compliance validation failure and the interruption of business continuity," said Michael Fimin, CEO and co-founder of Netwrix. "We want to support small companies in their efforts to strengthen security, maintain the sustainability of their business processes and streamline compliance. By making Netwrix Auditor for Active Directory available for small businesses, we have provided a solution that will deliver complete visibility into Active Directory and help them overcome limitations in human and financial resources."

"Small companies are investing less in information security, which may leave them both incapable of detecting incidents and a more tempting target to cyber adversaries," stated PwC in the Global State of Information Security Survey 2015. "As noted, smaller businesses often believe they are too insignificant to draw the attention of serious hackers and organised crime. It also may be that rising risks, combined with an overabundance of security solutions, has resulted in “analysis paralysis,” leaving smaller firms unable to make decisions and take action."
