BSI’s Gamma certification marks new phase in digital trust

BSI Group has introduced its new Gamma certification to the UK’s Digital Identity and Attributes Trust Framework, which helps organisations demonstrate compliance with standards aimed at strengthening digital identity security and trust.

The new certification marks the transition from the Beta version of the framework, which has been in place since June 2022. The framework sets out requirements for organisations that provide, manage or rely on digital identity services.

The Gamma version introduces updated controls and clearer requirements designed to reflect the rapidly evolving cyber security and digital identity landscape. Organisations certified under the Beta scheme must upgrade to Gamma by 31 March 2026, after which existing Beta certifications will expire.

Dion Allen, certification manager, digital, lifecycle and performance at BSI, said: “As more and more of our daily interactions and activities become reliant on trusted digital identity and cyber security, the activation of UK DIATF Gamma marks a significant step forward.

“At BSI, we stand ready to support organisations throughout the full certification lifecycle, from readiness to formal audit, providing expert guidance to help them transition with confidence. Organisations that uplift early will strengthen security, governance and transparency, while demonstrating clear leadership in digital trust.”
