Cyber and AI top business risk concerns for 2026, Allianz survey shows

Cyber incidents are expected to be the biggest worry for companies in 2026, while artificial intelligence has emerged as the fastest-rising risk globally, according to the latest Allianz Risk Barometer.

Close to half of the report's 3,300 respondents said they expect AI to bring more benefits than risks, although a fifth fear the opposite.

Business interruption slipped to the third most cited concern. while only 3% of respondents regard supply chains as “very resilient”.

Allianz Commercial CEO Thomas Lillelund comments: “Following the volatility and uncertainty of 2025, businesses continue to face interconnected and highly complex risks in 2026’s fast-changing environment. Given the continuing rise of AI across society and industry, it is unsurprising that it is the big mover in the Allianz Risk Barometer. As well as bringing huge opportunities, its transformative potential and rapid evolution and adoption are also reshaping the risk landscape, making it a standout concern for firms of all sizes worldwide, alongside other more established threats.”

The Allianz Risk Barometer draws on responses from risk professionals in 97 countries.
