Special Contingency Risks has introduced an enhanced victim support insurance extension aimed at providing assistance to individuals affected by kidnapping, unlawful detention, or critical security incidents.
The initiative is part of a partnership with Hostage International, a UK-based charity dedicated to supporting the families of hostages and former hostages.
The EVS extension, available to SCR policyholders, offers enhanced coverage for victims and their families, including support for rehabilitation, salary continuation, and medical and psychiatric care.
Mark Doust, director at SCR, commented: "Our enhanced victim support extension is a significant step forward in our ongoing efforts to deliver innovative and effective solutions that support post trauma rehabilitation for victims and their families. Our partnership with Hostage International aims to support and strengthen the fundamental work carried out by the world’s only dedicated charity in this field.”
Hostage International, founded in 2004 by Sir Terry Waite KCMG CBE and Carlo Laurenzi OBE, provides free, confidential and independent information and guidance to those affected by kidnap or unlawful detention. The charity is the longest-established international organisation offering independent and tailored support for families affected by a hostage incident, regardless of their nationality or place of residence.
Lara Symons, CEO at Hostage International, added: “We are very grateful for this innovative fundraising initiative from SCR, which will help enhance our work to support those who are affected by the unimaginable trauma of kidnaps and arbitrary detentions.”
For every EVS extension purchased, Willis (of which SCR is a subsidiary) will make a donation to Hostage International.
