Airmic elects Hoult as new chair

Airmic has elected Richard Hoult to succeed Fiona Davidge as chair.

The current vice-president of risk, audit and compliance at Synthomer, Hoult has leadership experience in both finance and risk management across the technology, utilities and manufacturing sectors. He has also been active on Airmic’s board and has already contributed to its strategic direction.

He said: “It is an exciting time to be part of Airmic, as we navigate an era of uncertainty shaped by geopolitical shocks, advances in technology and AI, and rapid change. As chair, I am committed to supporting our members and partners, strengthening our community, and ensuring Airmic remains a powerful voice with government, regulators and the wider profession.”

Reflecting on her year as chair, Davidge said: “It has been a great honour to serve as chair of Airmic over the past year. I am deeply grateful to the board, our members, partners and the executive team for their support, collaboration and energy throughout my tenure. I wish Richard every success as he takes on the role – I know his experience and commitment will ensure Airmic continues to thrive.”

Julia Graham, chief executive of Airmic, said that the profession is at a pivotal moment. She stressed that if the profession is to thrive, talent and technology must be recognised as joined, and to future-proof it the organisation must do better at promoting the “amazing career opportunities on offer and encouraging new entrants to step our way.” She added that Airmic’s voice is heard and its position of influence will be especially true as the UK starts the journey of becoming a captive domicile – with Airmic playing a central role.

In 2024 Airmic began delivering a new strategy built on a growing membership, secure financial reserves and a more agile association.
