Axa Climate launches marine education course

Axa Climate is launching an educational course designed to improve understanding of the ocean’s role in global climate balance.

Designed by its Climate School team, the Oceans: Call from the Deep Course is part of Axa's ongoing efforts to make climate science more accessible, and to highlight key challenges linked to marine biodiversity.

Based on scientifically validated sources, it offers a progressive learning path, divided into thematic chapters and supported by interactive tools such as short videos and quizzes.

"The ocean plays a fundamental role in climate balance, yet this fact remains largely unknown to the general public," said Antoine Poincaré, director of the Climate School at Axa Climate. “The ocean course aims to raise awareness by offering rigorous, scientifically grounded content accessible to anyone wishing to inform themselves and take action.”

Despite oceans covering over 70% of the Earth's surface, their complex dynamics – and their increasing vulnerability to human activities – remain poorly understood. From acidification and rising temperatures to overexploitation and pollution, the pressures they face are growing and deeply interconnected. Recognising the fragility of marine systems is a prerequisite to understanding why their preservation is essential to the long-term sustainability of human societies.

Axa's course will be presented at the upcoming United Nations Ocean Conference, as part of which, the course will be made freely accessible for one month to support dialogue among institutions, local authorities, businesses and civil society actors engaged in the protection and governance of marine environments.
