Bank of England Museum to host insurance exhibition

The Bank of England Museum is to host an exhibition focused on the development of insurance in London following the Great Fire.

The exhibition will explore the emergence of fire insurance, marine insurance and the Bank of England during the late 17th and early 18th centuries, and their role in London's commercial development.

Displays will include a reconstruction of Edward Lloyd's Coffee House, alongside representations of the Royal Exchange and Grocers' Hall, reflecting the City's financial and trading history.

The exhibition will run from 5 October to 27 November 2026, in partnership with the Insurance Museum.
