Tokio Marine and Adaptive partner on restaurant cover

Tokio Marine has launched a new digital version of its insurance product designed to protect restaurant owners from financial and reputational damage.

Powered by Adaptive Insurance’s AI-driven technology platform, Restaurant Recovery gives restaurant owners and their insurance agents access to comprehensive protection via a new, streamlined online quoting and binding system.

The scheme is designed to protect a restaurant’s brand and reputation in the face of increasing supply chain disruption and other risks affecting service levels. It aims to offer restaurant groups, ranging from single-location cafes to national franchises, access to tailored coverage.
The policy covers business expenses and financial losses resulting from accidental and supplier contamination, adverse publicity, and malicious tampering and product extortion.

Sean Curtin, president of Tokio Marine HCC specialty group, said: “Partnering with Adaptive allows us to bring our deep expertise in crisis management to a wider audience through a seamless, tech-forward experience.

“The restaurant industry has never been more exposed. Incidents that once took days to escalate now unfold in a matter of hours, and the financial consequences can outlast the incident itself. Restaurant Recovery gives owners the confidence to act decisively and recover quickly.”

Mike Gulla, CEO and co-founder of Adaptive, added: “Restaurants are the heartbeat of our communities, but they are also uniquely vulnerable to the speed of information and the complexity of modern supply chains. By powering Tokio Marine HCC’s proven Restaurant Recovery product on our platform, we are giving owners the tools they need to secure their future instantly, shifting from a reactive stance to one of proactive resilience.”
