Willis debuts datacentre offering amid AI-driven boom

Willis has launched a new end-to-end risk solution for datacentre owners and operators, as the rapid expansion of digital infrastructure driven by artificial intelligence increases demand for tailored cover.

The product, Digital Infrastructure Protector, combines coverage across construction and operational phases with integrated risk management, aimed at improving resilience and financial outcomes for owners, operators, contractors and hyperscalers.

Developed with Zurich, the solution provides access to more than US$3bn in capacity and consolidates building, operational property, marine and cargo risks under a single policy tailored to digital infrastructure needs.

Alastair Swift, head of global specialties at Willis, commented: “The pace at which the AI boom is accelerating datacentre construction is creating unprecedented complexity, and traditional insurance solutions are no longer sufficient. As a client-led, data-driven organisation, Willis has developed this solution to respond directly to those challenges.”

The offering draws on Willis’ digital infrastructure risk framework to provide ongoing oversight of emerging and systemic risks throughout the project lifecycle, alongside access to its Global Digital Infrastructure Group spanning construction, energy, climate, technology, cyber and supply chain expertise.
