The Hartford has completed a successful pilot of a generative AI solution from mea Platform, aimed at accelerating underwriting processes and reducing administrative workload.
The pilot, applied to The Hartford’s Navigators brand, processed around 100,000 new business submission emails in its wholesale property business. By extracting structured data from unstructured sources, the system reduced average processing time by 20 minutes per case.
“This pilot is a part of our aggressive technology agenda that is aimed at delivering a customer experience that is fast, easy and reliable,” said The Hartford’s chief information officer, Shekar Pannala. “Our foundation – with several hundred artificial intelligence models in production – is driving business results, enabling greater agility and faster decision-making, while improving the employee, customer and distribution experience.”
Martin Henley, chief executive of mea Platform, added: “We’re proud to partner with an innovative insurer like The Hartford. Our AI is purpose-built for the realities of insurance, delivering out-of-the-box performance that eliminates the usual complexity, AI training time and integration headaches. The Hartford’s implementation reflects a clear focus on practical innovation and long-term impact.”
Founded in 1810, The Hartford is among the oldest continuously operating insurance companies and remains a prominent player in commercial and specialty markets.
The insurer is now planning to extend mea’s capabilities across other areas of the business.
