Russia/Ukraine: Five Eyes meeting convened

Home Secretary Priti Patel convened and chaired a virtual meeting with her Five Eyes alliance counterparts yesterday to discuss developments in and around Ukraine.

Ministers from the UK, US, Canada, Australia and New Zealand discussed ways in which they might work together to protect domestic resilience and homeland security across the five countries, and coordinate their response to the unfolding situation.

Cooperation on cyber defence was high on the agenda, given the increased potential for attacks and disinformation.

“Our trusted Five Eyes partners represent a vital international alliance with whom we can work and collaborate to help protect our homelands and stand up to aggressors,” Patel said.

“The current situation in Ukraine is deeply concerning but by working with long-standing friends and allies, we are showing our solidarity with Ukraine and demonstrating that the international response to Russia’s actions will be united and robust.”
