BREXIT: Defra guidance addresses food supply chain resilience

As part of preparations for exiting the EU, Defra is issuing guidance for agri-food stakeholders to help them ready supply chains in advance of the 31st October.

Brexit Business Readiness Events, include a keynote address, interactive support, advice stands and in-depth sessions led by subject matter experts.

This follows an announcement earlier this week from the Department for Transport which launched a campaign to help hauliers and commercial drivers get ready for Brexit and ensure they have what they need from traders to get through border customs smoothly. This handbook will help hauliers and commercial drivers ensure they have the correct documentation to travel to, from or through the EU when the UK leaves the EU.

For exporters, the Department for International Trade is running a series of events which promise to equip participants with a “personalised action plan”. DIT will talk about impact to supply chains, changes to regulations and contracts, where to find tariff information, and what exporters might need to speak to customers and employees about, among a range of other topics.

HMRC is also running a number of webinars for UK businesses involved in the movement of goods between the EU and the UK.
