Vodafone UK has attained the globally recognised ISO/IEC 27001:2005 (ISO 27001) certification relating to the provision of IT services such as application hosting, data management, technical support and consultancy for its business customers.

ISO 27001 represents the only international standard to define the requirements for an Information Security Management System (ISMS). It provides a model for establishing, operating, reviewing and improving an information security management system.

Vodafone's attainment of ISO 27001 coincides with its successful three-yearly re-certification to ISO 9001:2008 for Quality Management, and follows its recent business continuity certification (BS 25999).

Jeni Mundy, chief technical officer, Vodafone UK, said: “Our customers take their businesses seriously and they want to know that we do too. By attaining the ISO 27001 certification, it demonstrates that we continue to deliver the most reliable and secure information systems for our customers on the UK’s best network.”

Andrew Morris, business development director at BSI, said, “Certification to ISO 27001 is a further demonstration of Vodafone’s commitment to its customers and to having robust processes in place to minimise business risk.”
