US 2012 tornado season most inactive ever?

After an extremely destructive and busy 2011 severe weather season, the United States’ 2012 tornado season may end as one of the most inactive seasons in history, according to the Storm Prediction Center.

Through November 26th, the Storm Prediction Center has counted 885 tornadoes, far below the November 26th average of 1,265 and below the minimum value for November 26th of 920.

In related news, an Aon Benfield cat alert also reports a rare tornado in the city of Taranto, Italy injured at least 20 people and caused damage to a steel plant.
