Strategic Thought Group has rebranded. Effective immediately, the risk software consultancy is calling itself Active Risk, which it believes more accurately reflects its focus on risk management and enterprise governance, risk and compliance (GRC) software provision.

Strategic Thought was founded almost 25 years ago as a specialist technology consulting firm. In 2001 it launched its Active Risk Manager (ARM) software.

“We have decided to rebrand the organisation to more accurately reflect and communicate our focus on providing great software and related services around risk management and enterprise governance, risk and compliance. We see a rapidly increasing demand for software which will give management teams the true picture of risk and opportunity across their business and supply chain,” commented Peter Robertshaw, senior vice-president, global marketing at Active Risk.

The company's new website is activerisk.com.

CIR is currently in discussion with risk software providers ahead of its Risk Software Report scheduled for publication at the end of the year. Interested parties should email the editor at deborah.ritchie@cirmagazine.com

No improvement among BRICs to withstand global risk shocks
The BRIC countries of Brazil, Russia, India and China are no better placed to withstand shocks from major risk events than they were four years ago, according to a new report. The findings of the Global Risks Atlas 2012, released by risk analysis firm Maplecroft, indicate that strong economic performance in the BRICs has not translated into improved societal resilience or governance, which constrain a country’s ability to adapt and combat potential shocks from pandemics, terrorism, conflict, resource security, economic contagion and the impacts of climate change.
