ACE appoints new head of transportation risk

ACE has announced the appointment of Phil Skelton as head of transportation risk management for its overseas operations.

Skelton will be responsible for coordinating the delivery of risk management services to ACE's clients and brokers throughout Europe, the Middle East, Asia-Pacific and Latin America. In addition, he will support the marine teams in ACE's international operations outside North America, including ACE Global Markets.

Commenting on the appointment, Peter Seymour, executive vice-president, marine for ACE Overseas General said: “We see new opportunities in markets such as the Middle East and Latin America where there is investment in power, oil and gas projects requiring specialist marine insurance and risk management capabilities. Phil’s appointment will help us focus on providing the widest possible access to our risk management services and support our strategy to grow our multinational business.”

Skelton has 22 years’ experience at ACE, working on multinational programmes for clients from a number of industries including pharmaceuticals, non-ferrous metals, high tech electrical goods, luxury goods and heavy machinery. He is a Master Mariner and spent two years in ship management and operations and 14 years at sea with the Royal and Merchant Navies.
