Security tightens in Athens following attempted attack

Authorities increased security measures in Greece's capital, Athens, following an attempted grenade attack targeting the offices of private television station Skai TV on 17 June, according to reports from Red24. Two unknown assailants reportedly threw a grenade at the building before fleeing on a motorbike.

A second grenade was later found in the vicinity of the offices. Bomb disposal teams were deployed to the scene and the area cordoned off after both grenades failed to detonate. The attempted attack comes after firebombs were launched at the buildings, which house the Kathimerini SA media group, on 5 June.
