Roy to head up Ecclesiastical’s risk services team

Specialist insurer Ecclesiastical has appointed Angus Roy as head of risk services. He joins from Allianz Commercial in Glasgow where he was a senior risk control surveyor.

Reporting to claims and risk services director David Bonehill, Roy will lead a 37-strong risk services team working across the UK. His focus will be to lead this critical business area and identify ways of further improving this area of expertise for the company’s customers.

Roy has spent over 17 years working in risk management and underwriting. He began his career as a risk control surveyor at Royal Sun & Alliance before joining Allianz Commercial as a regional risk control surveyor. He then held a series of roles within Allianz before moving to AIG in 2007 as senior property development underwriter. Prior to his move to Allianz in Glasgow, he became Chartis’s regional property underwriting manager.

Commenting on the appointment, David Bonehill said: “As a specialist insurer operating in technically-demanding sectors like heritage and charity, we’ve been seeking someone with considerable experience and knowledge to fill this role. With his impressive track record in property and casualty business plus his enviable technical skills, Angus is the ideal candidate and we’re delighted he’s joining us.”
