Specialist insurer Markel International has expanded its trade credit division with three appointments.

Philip Amlot has been appointed joins the division as a senior underwriter; Louise Hunt as an underwriting assistant; and Antony Bastow as trade credit claims barrister.

The new team members reflect the success of the division which has grown strongly since its launch earlier this year.

Mr Amlot, who has over 21 years’ experience in the credit insurance sector, joins from Coface UK where he was a senior manager. His focus will be on business development and client servicing.

Ms Hunt began her career in the London insurance market in 1999. She has spent time with Amlin as an underwriting assistant and with Beazley as a coverholder operations coordinator.

Mr Bastow has more than 10 years’ experience in claims adjusting. He qualified as a barrister in 1997 and went on to practise at 2 King's Bench Walk Chambers. He joined Markel in 2000 and has dealt with a wide range of professional and financial claims.
