The Chartered Insurance Institute (CII) is launching the latest of its four New Generation Groups to help inspire new industry thinking and develop future leaders.
General insurance professionals representing broking, claims, underwriting and the London Market are collaborating on ways to improve their sectors in the second year of the New Generation Groups initiative, run by the CII Faculties.
Each group comprises up to 11 insurance practitioners nominated by senior management for significant achievement within their profession.
The year-long New Generation Group initiatives are designed to complement the individuals’ existing professional development programmes and broaden their market understanding.
As well as engaging the groups in research-led projects, the CII is also to host seminars offering practical information and best practice advice on wider issues in the profession, including political lobbying, dealing with regulators and the role of the media.
Projects conducted by this year’s groups have included research into improving inter-insurer operations in the motor claims market, an investigation into the relationship between speed awareness courses and insurance and improving the reputation of the broker market.
Ant Gould, director of faculties at the CII, said: “The New Generation Groups initiative is continuing to give general insurance practitioners the opportunity and the tools to explore the issues that matter to them, customers and the market while helping them develop their own leadership skill sets.”
“The work of this year’s groups has highlighted important issues in each of the disciplines represented by the CII faculties and reached some challenging and thought-provoking conclusions. The enthusiasm and commitment of all the professionals involved in these activities to improve the industry bodes well for the future of the sector.”
“The groups will be supported by the relevant faculty boards, although topics are of their own choosing and led by their particular interests. Once again, we look forward to seeing what some of the brightest talent in insurance can achieve by working collaboratively for the greater good of the profession.”
