BIBA receives CPD accreditation

The British Insurance Brokers’ Association has received Continuing Professional Development (CPD) accreditation from the Chartered Insurance Institute. BIBA members will now be able to receive CPD for reading BIBA’s regulation and technical updates, and attending its Compliance Forums.

In 2012, around 75 updates were issued to members which going forward will be accredited under the CPD scheme. Members can access the articles either through the BIBA website or BIBA’s weekly and monthly email updates. Around 35 Compliance Forums are held annually across the UK, dates for upcoming forums are on the BIBA website.

Steve White, BIBA’s head of compliance and training, said: “This is an important step for us and members. We regularly publish important broking information and updates on a range of technical and regulatory issues and we’re pleased that the CII has recognised the importance of this material. It will help members to demonstrate their ongoing development and competence.”
CPD activity is undertaken to ensure skills and knowledge are up-to-date and is a normal requirement for qualified members of professional bodies.
