Marsh has appointed Equitas CEO, Jane Barker, as non-executive director. Ms Barker previously worked at Marsh for 14 years, latterly as international CFO.

Ms Barker has been CEO of Equitas since 2007, having previously served as its finance director since 1995. Previously, she was chief operating officer of the London Stock Exchange. Ms Barker joined CT Bowring, later Marsh, in 1976 and was appointed managing director and international CFO in 1988.

In addition to her responsibilities at Equitas, Ms Barker is non-executive director of Santander UK, a member of the council of the Royal College of Music and a lay canon of Salisbury Cathedral.

Commenting on the appointment, Sir Peter Middleton, chairman of Marsh, said: “Jane Barker will be a tremendous asset to Marsh. With her extensive experience in the financial services industry and deep knowledge of the insurance sector, as well as her strong background in corporate governance, she will bring real value to our board and, ultimately, our clients.”

Ms Barker added: “Marsh has undergone a huge transformation in recent years. As one of the leading companies in the UK financial services sector, it plays a critical role in helping companies manage their risk and insurance issues. I look forward to contributing to its continued success.”
