AlienVault has been named one of the World Economic Forum’s 2013 Technology Pioneers, joining 23 of the most innovative global technology start-ups, recognised for their potential to transform the future of business and society.

This year’s Technology Pioneers were chosen by a selection committee comprised of academics, journalists, technologists and venture capitalists. The elite group is known for their success and visionary leadership in disciplines that include information technology; telecommunications and new media; life sciences and health; and energy and environment.

“We believe that cyber security is truly an economic issue, which is why our recognition by the World Economic Forum is so meaningful,” said Barmak Meftah, president and CEO of AlienVault. “The challenges we face require an entirely new approach, based on openness and collaboration. Our mission – as represented in our Unified Security Management platform and Open Threat Exchange – is to make security visibility available to any organisation. This is a fundamental shift from today’s practices.”

Since the World Economic Forum launched in 2000, more than 500 innovative companies have been selected from around the world as Technology Pioneers. Previous Technology Pioneers include transformational companies like Google, PayPal, Mozilla, DropBox and others.
